Senan’s juvenile athletes had a great
outing at the recent county ‘B’
championships in Thomastown scoring some
fine wins. In the girls U/11 Gemma
Aylward won silver in the 300m while
Sinead Doody won bronze in both the 100m
and 300m. Bronagh Kearns won silver in
the U/12 walk as did Ciara Kennedy in
the 800m. In the U/13 walk Ciara
Cullinane won a bronze in the walk.
Catherine Molloy won bronze in both the
U/14 80m and the 800m, while Eimear
Breathnach, who is improving with each
week, won silver in the 800m. In the
U/15 walk, the club made a clean sweep
with Rosanne Kennedy taking gold,
Catherine Molloy silver and Kelly
Dempsey bronze. Rosanne took home a
bronze in the long jump. Sonya Aylward
is another improving athlete and she won
silver in the 800m and long jump in the
same age group.
Boys
Oh Boys.
Evan
Duggan got the boys off to a good start
taking bronze in the U/8 80m, while
Donagh Meyler took silver in the U/10
300m. Tom Whelan took gold with a great
run in the U/11 300m and went on to win
silver in the 80m and bronze in the long
jump, while fiery red head Shay Dempsey
battled hard to take silver in the U/12
800m. In the U/14 age group John Vereker
won the 800m and silver in both the 80m
and shot, while William Walsh won silver
in the same 80m race.
Relays.
The girls U/12 relay team of Bronagh
Kearns, Ciara Vereker, Ciara Kennedy and
Orla Butler won bronze as the boys U/12
team of Ian Williams, Shay Dempsey, Jack
Tully and Tom Whelan. In the U/13 mixed
relay ther was a great win for the team
of Bronagh Kearns, Ciara Cullinane, Luke
Morgan and David Walsh. The boys U/14
team of David Walsh, William Walsh, Luke
Morgan and John Vereker also had a great
win while the girls U/14 team of Eimear
Breathnach, Catherine Molloy, Nicole and
Kelly Dempsey won silver. In the U/15
mixed relay the squad of Rosanne
Kennedy, Sonya Aylward, Eimear
Breathnach and William Walsh won bronze,
while the U/16 girls relay team topped
off the day with a great win. The team
was Rosanne Kennedy, Sonya Aylward,
Catherine Molloy and Eimear Breathnach.
Well done to all our juveniles who took
part. The club is in great shape at
present with lots of promising young
athletes putting in a great effort both
in training and competition. |
