Bronagh Blows Away Opposition (Leinster
stage 2, Mullingar)
Bronagh Kearns scored a sensational win
at the Leinster juvenile cross country
championships in Mulligar last Sunday as
she floated over mud and hills to win
the U/12 race in impressive fashion.
It’s been many years since the club
had an individual win in these
championships and the talented blonde
bullet from Ardara, gave the club a huge
boost in the first race of the day. In
the girls U/14 race Chloe Laffan won a
silver with the county team, while
Rosanne Kennedy picked up a county gold
in the U/16 race despite being badly
spiked. An excellent run by Leanne
Foskin saw her finish in 8th,
while Colin Butler won a county gold in
the U/18 race. Adele Walsh added to her
Leinster tally with a county bronze as
she led home the Kilkenny team in 8th
place. Lots of other impressive runs on
a day made for the brave and the hardy.

Home
from Home
Welcome back to club member Tara Walsh
who just returned from a week in
Capetown, South Africa, where as part of
the Niall Mellon charity project she
helped to build badly needed houses in
the local townships. Tara was part of
the ‘Orange’ team that included
former world boxing champion Chris
Ewbanks. In all over 700 Irish people
took part and the project has been one
of the major success stories in that
region over the past number of years.
Hopefully she will be recovered in time
for the county Novice on Sunday!!ay.
Marathon
Men of Charity
Between them, Tom Roche and Noel Walsh
are 115 years old, have run 50 marathons
and raised over €50,000 for charity.
If that's caught your attention, why not
read some more.
Take
the 'A' train
It’s
all happening on Monday and Wednesday
nights at the Sports Complex in
Kilmacow, starting at 7.00pm. There’s
a great squad of juveniles down for
training, while the elder lemons also
get in a few steady laps including
Heartbreak Hill. If you’d like a walk
or maybe just to keep up with the
gossip, you can join the Butler
Community Centre of Stella, Elaine and
Michelle for a calorie clippin’ stroll
round the track. There’s a welcome for
one and all in St Senans, just bring
some suitable clothing and an oxygen
tent!!.
Busman
Pat
We
are lucky in St Senans to have a super
bus driver in Pat Duggan. Not alone is
he so steady that you could drink your
tea while he drives, but he is always in
great humour and a pleasure to have
around the athletes. At the recent Tall
Ships Festival in Waterford, Pat was one
of the contractors who worked the Park
& Ride system and Bus Eireann
received numerous calls complimenting
Pat on the marvelous service he
provided. Of course in St Senans we’ve
known that for years. Thanks Pat.
