studded performances at last Sunday’s
stage of of the County T&F championships
in Scanlon Park. In all the club took
home over 50 medals including 13 gold.
The early rain failed to dampen spirits
and there were some great runs by the
young juveniles who showed the benefit
of all the recent hard training.

Junior, Novice and
Senior
Leanne Foskin fresh from her exploits in
the Four County League still had plenty
of running in her legs taking silver in
the junior 200m. Janet Moore showed good
leg speed winning the novice 100m,
senior 100m and also taking silver in
the javelin. All the training is
starting to pay off. Adele Walsh was far
too good for the senior 1500m field
winning by a distance. Damien Walsh got
the senior men off to a great start
winning the 400mH in style and also
taking silver in the 100m and long jump.
Hopefully we didn’t miss anyone, if we
did you can blame Elaine, old age could
be catching up on her!! The next two
stages take place on Sun May 6th
and Sun May 13th.
Four County League
Champions
St Senans ladies team scored a great win
in the St Abbans Four County League
series, with Adele Walsh taking the
individual title and Leanne Foskin
placing 6th overall. The
final stage took place on Friday night
last at the St Abbans Sports Complex in
Monavea, and the team of Adele, Leanne,
Cait Caulfield and Tara Walsh completed
the final track race to emerge as
champions. The series also saw Sarah
Dollard, Rosanne Kennedy and Laura
Fennelly play their part and we are
delighted to see St Senans beat the
cream of Kilkenny, Wexford, Offaly and
Carlow. Good job girls!
All in her Stride
Adele Walsh was on the winner’s podium
again at the BHAA ‘Stride by the Tide’
race in Youghal last Wednesday, winning
the 4mile race in some style. Hard in
training at present Adele is looking
forward to converting her cross country
stamina into track speed over the summer
season and will be eyeing the Leinster
1500m and 5000m titles.
Fiona Wins All
Ireland Gold
The St Senans AC walkers turned in some
great performances at the AAI Juvenile
Indoor championships in Nenagh last
Saturday with Fiona Dennehy adding to
her growing reputation at the
discipline, by winning another gold
medal this time at U/16.. There were
fine efforts too by U/14 athletes Aoife
and Orla Butler, who are going from
strength to strength and Luke Morgan,
who is another talented all rounder.
Orla and Luke just missed out on a medal
in 4th place, with Orla less
than a second of the bronze medallist.
Fiona has been a model of consistency
over the past two years, with club and
school All Ireland medals allied to
Leinster and National records. She looks
set to be a serious contender at this
event over the coming years. Well done
to the four young athletes and credit
also their coach Pam Foskin, who has put
great personal effort into developing
the walks in Kilmacow.
Butlerstown 10K
Adele Walsh, Tara Walsh, PJ Dwyer and
Andy Dollard were among the 234 starters
at the popular Butlertown 10K last
Saturday night, with PJ finishing as the
second O/50 finisher. Adele was using
the race as a warm down after two hard
races in one week, while Tara and Andy
both had good runs. The race saw a win
for Sandis Bralitis of west Waterford
with Mary Sweeney taking the ladies win.
Good run by Larry Kennedy who just one
year shy of his 50th birthday
posted a time of 35.37. We trained him
well on those frosty nights in Kilmacow,
many moons ago!!
