Luke
Morgan, Fiona Dennehy and Catherine
Fennelly all won gold medals, while
Laura Fennelly picked up a silver in the
walk. There were also four bronze
medals, two for Colin Butler and one
each for Leanne Foskin and Janet Moore.
Lots of other athletes competed and
performed well with many just missing
out on a medal so well done to all
travelled and took part.
Walking the Walk
The club has featured
strongly in the walking events of late
thanks to some great specialist coaching
from Pam Foskin and this was evident in
Nenagh as both Luke Morgan U/14, Fiona
Dennehy U/15 and Catherine Fennelly U/19
all showed superb form to win
convincingly in their respective races.
Laura Fennelly is another fine walker
and won a silver medal in the U/17 race,
while Lydia Meyler also walked extremely
well just missing out in 4th
place. The club has a proud tradition in
this event and our present crop of
juveniles look set to continue this.
Fast
and Furious
In the sprint events Both
Leanne Foskin in the U/18 300m and Colin
Butler in the U/19 400m won bronze
medals with great performances. Both
Janet Moore and Claire Walsh had good
runs in the
U/18 60m heats , while the U/18 4
x 200m relay team that also included
Laura Fennelly and Leanne Foskin put up
a great show with Janet Moore in running
a particularly exciting leg making up
huge ground on her opponents. Janet also
had an excellent shot putt series, where
she won bronze in the U/18 event.
William Walsh came close in the U/16
high jump placing 4th, while
Daniel Davis jumped well in the U/16
long jump event.
Half
Milers
Day 2 of the Indoors saw
several athletes compete in the 800m
events and again there were medals for
Leanne Foskin who took silver in the
U/18 race and Colin Butler who won
bronze in the U/19 event. Others who
performed well included newcomer Darragh
Dwyer 5th in the U/14 race, Luke Morgan
5th in the U/15, Daniel Davis
5th in the U/16 and Rosanne
Kennedy 6th in the U/16
event. Well done to all our athletes and
thanks to the parents and coaches who
travelled on the day.
