A
Roaring Success !!
Brilliant sunshine, big crowds and great
racing made this year’s Open T&F
one of the best ever. The club as had
some great successes with Bronagh Kearns
a very impressive winner in the U/13
700m, while Leanne Foskin won the junior
1500m and also picked up medals in both
the 100m, 400m and long jump. Good runs
too from young Evan Duggan and Craig
Dowling in the sprints who both won
medals, while Darragh Dwyer and Conor
Rochford had excellent runs in the U/15
700m. Other medal winners included
Claire Walsh who won a silver in the
junior 1500m, while the ever dependable
Colin Butler won bronze in both the
junior 100m and 400m as well as a silver
in the 3000m and long jump. Adele Walsh
was pipped on the line for gold in the
1500m by Maria Murphy-Griffin in a
competitive race. In the field events
Aisling McDonald won bronze in the U/14
long jump, while our girls U/10 relay
team of Tara Lacey, Dearbhla Kearns,
Claire McEvoy and Ciara Doody won
bronze. Well done to all our athletes
who competed on the day.

Tom
agus Noel, beirt Gael-goers
Congratulations to our two most prolific
marathoners Tom Roche and Noel Walsh on
clocking up another 26 miler at the
recent Connemara Marathon. Between them
the pair have run 52 marathons, that’s
almost 1400 miles of racing. In fact if
they had set off in a straight line
heading for Africa, they’d now be
halfway across the Sahara Desert.
Fortunetly they didn’t as only Noel
was wearing a hat! They have also raised
almost 50,000 euro for charity, in
particular the Children’s Hospital in
Crumlin. This time they covered the
course in 4.14 with the wily Noel
gaining a two second advantage on the
run in. Never trust a man in a white
cap, Oh revenge will be sweet when it
comes in Dublin next October Tom!!! Well
done to them both, two marvellous
examples of all that’s good in sport.
Four
County Continues
Next Sunday the 3rd stage of
the St Abbans Four County League
continues with a 10K held in conjunction
with the National 10K in Tinryland. St
Senans ‘B’ team have just two points
to spare over Gowran AC, who will have
the talented Mick Kelly back in action
for this race. Adele Walsh will also
have to be at her best to fend of some
strong challengers in the women’s one
mile race. Registration for all events
is at the football grounds on the
Bunclody road opposite Rathcrogue House
and not in the usual school premises.
Runners are advised to be there well
ahead of the 1.00pm start.
Up
the Airy Mountain
West Waterford AC kick off their Ger
Wylie/Nike Summer series with the Marine
Climb, a scenic 6 mile run from the pier
in Dungarvan to the Marine Bar on Friday
next 21st April starting at
7.00pm.
