While
Ian Ahearne and Bronagh Kearns were
flying the St Senans flag at the
national juvenile T&F in Sligo
recently, there were also some fine
performances from other clubs around the
county. Gowran AC had a number of young
competitors in action and at the tender
age of eight Rebecca Kennedy received a
Gold Award for her performances which
included 5th in Long Jump, 3rd
in Ball Throw and 12th in 80m
sprint. At U/11 Rose Kennedy ran a
superb 600m leading most of the way and
just getting caught on the line. She was
also 8th in Long Jump. At
U/12 Demot Hickey was 7th in
the Shot and Conor Fenlon came 5th
in the 600m. Kilkenny City Harriers also
had some good performers. In the U/12's
Diarmuid Cody was 8th in the
60m final. Cormac Everard cleared 1.20m
in the High Jump and did 3.90m in the
Long Jump.
