August 8 : Europe and World-Bound Kilkenny Athletes
O'Keeffe Strikes again

Eileen returned to Morton Stadium last weekend at the Dublin International Games in Santry and continued where she left off the previous week by adding to her one week old mark of 68.14 with a new National Record of 69.36, ever closer to the elusive 70m mark. She beat Hungarian, Katalin Divos, a European medal winner, who managed a best throw of 63.39. With Eileen in this kind of form and coming up against the best throwers in the world we should not be surprised if she makes that mighty 70 meter milestone. Best of luck Eileen.

Eileen was not the only Kilkenny athlete to show her class at these games. Emily Maher, competing in the 100m. finished 2nd to Ailish Mc Sweeney, Leevale. Emily's time was 11.56s slightly faster than her third place finish in the National Championships the previous weekend. Sinead Delahunty had a comfortable win in the 1500 in the rather pedestrian time of 4m13.17s.  Brian Maher moved up to the 3000 and put in a fine performance to win bronze in a time of 8m24.76s knocking over three seconds off his PB in the process. Mick Kelly, Gowran AC, also had a PB in this event coming in at 8m43s.
