Community Spirit
It was great again to see such a
fantastic turnout from the local
community who really make the event such
a great occasion. The atmosphere was
great as was the slagging and the do or
die sprints over the last 10 yards.
Thanks to all who came and raised money
on sponsorship cards for the Kilmacow
Hospice, hopefully this year we will
again raise a substantial amount for
what is a great charity. Lots of helpers
on the day and in the lead up to the
event, including our sponsors, Bus
Eireann, Vale Oil, Glanbia Mullinavat,
Pat Duggan Coaches, Day 2 Day Kilmacow,
Hasbro, Bobby’s Butchers and Alfie Hale
Intersport. Thanks also to John Dollard
and family who provided such great
support to the event since it began and
gave it its clever name. Our refreshment
crew in the galley from the ICA and
Hospice as always provided the finest of
food and teas in jig time. All our
stewards and a particular thanks and
congratulations to Counsellor Tomas
Breathnach who made the trip back from
the count centre for the event. Finally
to all our own committee members who
like the Nike ad ‘Just Do It’.
Body Parts for Sale
Nissan Car Sales have found a new
niche in the health market selling spare
car parts as replacement joints for
humans. In the current recession the new
venture is taking off and club member
Gaye Rochford got a new kneecap made
from the back axle of a Nissan Micra. So
far she is delighted with the new part,
which is only just run in but which
Nissan have guaranteed for 100,000miles.
Next she plans to put in two front ball
joints to replace her hips and later a
pair of track rod ends to upgrade her
elbows. Paschal said despite all the
changes he plans to hold on to her as
she’s driving well and DOE’d to 2011!!
